Is that O'Ceallaigh I hear?

This week we are lucky enough to have the ever so knowledgeable O'Ceallaigh from O'Ceallaigh's Felloffatruck Publications to grace the "My Music Highway Project" stage.

For those who know O'Ceallaigh you know there is no one like him. His smarts and witt get him a long way. For those who do not know him... get over to his place. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Everyone Please Welcome O'Ceallaigh to "My Music Highway Project"!!!

Inspirational Song and What It Did?

These days, I keep coming back to the ancient (1970) rocker "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who. Because it seems like we all have been. And as I have been reading more and more history in recent years, it seems like we humans have allowed ourselves to be fooled, over and over again. And as I write this, the poem of adversity, despair, and resilience
malgré lui popped back into my head (or what's left of it), "The Boxer", Simon and Garfunkel:

In a clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of every glove that laid him down
Or cut him 'til he cried out,
In his anger and his shame:
"I am leaving, I am leaving!"
But the fighter still remains.
I have often thought of leaving. But here I still remain.

Future Generations?

I would hope that future generations would unlearn, permanently, the baby boomer lessons.

That everything can be had all the time. [Yes, that quoted Life in the Fast Lane by The Eagles.]

That complex problems can be solved, and good and long-lasting results achieved, by screaming and temper tantrums.

That you don't long for peace, you work for it - and a lot harder than you do for war, and with lots fewer short-term returns.

That the true rewards of peace are the bare room and the spinning wheel of Moandas "Mahatma" Gandhi, not the megabillions of Bill Gates.

I would have them learn that the one who screws public funding for education so that he can have more money to spend on his pet projects; the one who trains young people to worship MTV and throw money at its glitter while they work minimum-wage at CVS and dream no more, is far more your enemy, and an enemy of peace, than any Al Qaeda fighter.

I would have them learn that the Great Experiment of the Founding Fathers is in deadly peril, and that only they themselves can save it. If they cast off the corporate lullabys and act.

Favorite Project / Charity?

It would be so glib to say something like Darfur or the Jimmy Fund or something like that. But my heart is given to: Oceanography and Marine Biology. Which right now is low on the radar screen because people are focusing on bombs and rockets, and because so many people look at anything that smacks of "environment" and see eco-terrorists and nasty "government regulation". Yet the ocean sustains us. It's far more than freeing Willie and finding Nemo. Or pictures of cruises on the Discovery Channel. It's full of fields that have all the appeal of pond scum, and it certainly does not lend itself to emotive campaigns of the Jerry Lewis Telethon type. Yet the ocean sustains us. It provides half the oxygen on the planet, draws down half the carbon dioxide greenhouse gas. It absorbs heat - and how it reflects it back in the vicinity of Tahiti affects what the summer weather will be in Vienna. And while other causes see increasing funds from governments and private charities, funding for the ocean sciences is, at best, static.

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now.

If you think long and hard about it... music is a language that everyone speaks. Without divisions and barriers it brings us together as one. No matter what type of music you prefer... it is music. Wouldn't it be nice if we all could ride down the "Music Highway"... just to know that we, for one moment, could have a sense of togetherness?

WHY NOT have a "sense of togetherness"? It is so very true that music is a language EVERYONE speaks. This world has to much hate... So... Let us travel down a different highway... a highway of music... so we... for one moment can have a sense of peace... together. I started this project not knowing how well it would take off. Thanks to some wonderful bloggers... it has taken off beyond words. Click here for more info.
