Throwing You a "Bone"...

I first met "Bone" several months ago through Pia. Pia was/is all the time bragging on her "Bone"... so, I finally took a look at his blog and was hooked by his beautiful writing. Folks... we will be paying to read his books one day. I love his serious side of writing... but then again, I love his humurous side as well. The way he writes... I can visualize everything I read. I am so glad I took the time and made that click on the link to his blog.

Everyone I am Throwing You a "Bone"... and insist on you playing fetch and Welcome to My Music Highway Project... "Bone" from the blog "If You Read Only One Blog This Year"...

1) What song has truly inspired/touched you? (Name of Artist and Song please)
"Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning" by Alan Jackson

"Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)"
Alan Jackson

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue
The heroes who died just doing what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

The greatest is love
The greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day

2) How did it inspire/touch/ or change you?
It seemed to speak to so much of what I felt on 9/11. One of several songs that still is able to bring me to tears when I listen to it all the way. I could have put any of those as the answer to number one.

3) What is one thing you wish for the future generations?
The ability to think for themselves, the courage to do so, and the belief that it can and will make a difference.

4) What is one "Project"/ "Charity" that is dear to your heart?
Anything to do with children gets me.

I am a huge Alan Jackson fan... actually we have seen him a lot around the Franklin, TN area here lately because his daughter plays basketball and he has been going to a good bit of her game. He is a quite individual but a very gracious man to his fan. I honestly can never get through that song... I have to turn it. It is a very beautiful song... and so real of how many felt that day and days after. Thank you, Bone, for helping support this project.

... and the music plays on!

If you think long and hard about it... music is a language that everyone speaks. Without divisions and barriers it brings us together as one. No matter what type of music you prefer... it is music. Wouldn't it be nice if we all could ride down the "Music Highway"... just to know that we, for one moment, could have a sense of togetherness?

WHY NOT have a "sense of togetherness"? It is so very true that music is a language EVERYONE speaks. This world has to much hate... So... Let us travel down a different highway... a highway of music... so we... for one moment can have a sense of peace... together. I started this project not knowing how well it would take off. Thanks to some wonderful bloggers... it has taken off beyond words. Click here for more info.
