Music Hath Charms

"Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast,
To soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak."

~ William Congreve ~
The Mourning Bride

Recently I ran a story on my blog
Loveless about the hoopla surrounding the recent cover of Babytalk, a magazine designed for new mothers. The cover showed a baby nursing at his mother's breast. It was a beautiful picture, not prurient in any way, very wholesome and maternal. Yet there was such a hew and cry from the magazine's readership.

I'm reminded of an old country song, been around for a while. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Reed, Jimmy Dean and I don't know who all else recorded it. The song, "A Thing Called Love," and the words, especially the last three lines, speak very eloquently in answer..

"Six foot six, he stood on the ground
Weighed two hundred and thirty five pounds
But I saw that giant of a man brought down
To his knees by love

He was the kind of man that would gamble on luck
Look you in the eye and never back up
But I saw him a'cryin like a little whipped pup
Because of love

Can't see it with your eyes, hold it in your hand
But like the wind it covers our land
Strong enough to rule the heart of any man
This thing called love

It can lift you up, it can let you down
Take your world, turn it all around
Ever since time nothing's ever been
Found that's stronger than love

Most men are like me they struggle and doubt
Trouble their mind day in and day out
Too busy a'livin to worry about a thing called love

But when I see a mother's tenderness as she holds
her young close to her breast, then I thank God
This worlds been blessed with a thing called love."

A thing called love..

That's the gift music gives up, a language beyond words and a deeper understanding of ourselves and others.. be they people, nations, cultures or a gracious young mother nursing her beautiful
newborn babe.

Let's soften rocks people,
It really is up to us..

Love 'ya,

"The Mother and Child reunion
is only a motion away."

If you think long and hard about it... music is a language that everyone speaks. Without divisions and barriers it brings us together as one. No matter what type of music you prefer... it is music. Wouldn't it be nice if we all could ride down the "Music Highway"... just to know that we, for one moment, could have a sense of togetherness?

WHY NOT have a "sense of togetherness"? It is so very true that music is a language EVERYONE speaks. This world has to much hate... So... Let us travel down a different highway... a highway of music... so we... for one moment can have a sense of peace... together. I started this project not knowing how well it would take off. Thanks to some wonderful bloggers... it has taken off beyond words. Click here for more info.
